Should I upgrade out of my 2005 BMW 3 series into a 2007 BMW X3 or 328i?

Hey guys so I'm currently driving a 2005 BMW 325i sedan. Our family use to have an SUV, my mom had a 2007 Mercedes ML350 but she traded it in for a 2011 Infiniti M37 in January. So now we all drive sedans which kind of sucks cause the SUV really helped for those beach days with friends and family or just comfortable long distance travels, now Ive noticed we have been taking two cars whenever we go out and have company or family at home. Now that I'm in the market for a car my initial idea was to trade my 2005 BMW 325i in for a 2007-2008 328i sedan but now I'm thinking our family could really use an SUV again so what about a Pre-owned 2007-2008 BMW X3? I mean I like the sedan cause its not so much to worry about in terms of maintenance compared to an SUV in general so what would you recommend, should I sacrifice not getting the newer 3 series for an X3 or should I just get another 3 series? By the way I like the newer X5 but that's way out of my price range even if its used, I'm looking for a low mileage BMW so the X3 or 3 series fits my criteria. What are your suggestions?
